It had just snowed in Richmond, and I woke up early and walked to the bridge with the intention of catching the sunrise over the city. The sunrise never wound up coming as it was cloudy, but I feel like this scene became so much more magical without it!

I had gone up to this spot about four times with the intention of shooting it. Unfortunately the conditions didn't work out like I'd hoped, until finally the light was perfect! Beautiful clouds and a reflection, as well as golden light bathing the trees. It made the repeated effort well worth it!

This was a waterfall at White Oak Canyon in Syria, Virginia. I hiked up on a summer Saturday in June of 2018. This scene looked so picturesque to me, I got out on some of the lower rocks and got down low with my tripod and wide-angle. The hardest part was waiting for people to leave my frame to be able to snap away!

This was a sunrise off of the T. Tyler Potterfield Memorial Bridge in Richmond, Virginia in December of 2017. I had woken up and walked out with my dog, Buddha. It was so cold that he had to sit on top of my boots while I took the picture! The colors of the sky were great, I got out the tripod, fired away, and then quickly headed back inside!

I walked up to a popular spot in Richmond to catch the sunset the other day, but it was packed with people and photographers! Thought that I missed a great opportunity for a shot, and kept walking. I wound up finding a much more empty park with a great view of the city, and wound up really liking this composition!

I had gone up to Crabtree Falls for the day, and was hoping to catch some nice changing colors! It was a little bit early in the season for the leaves to change, but thankfully caught the last of the light by the time I got up to the top of the mountain.

I always walk past this view and wish I had my camera in the evenings. I decided to come down to the pipeline and try to grab a long exposure! The hard part was trying to keep the fence in front of me out of view while still keeping a composition. I think I was out there for 45 minutes just waiting for the right light in the sky.

It was a gloomy, hazy day in Richmond, so in between rain showers I came down to the tracks. Thankfully the rain cleared up in time for me to fly for a bit and find a composition. Seeing the train look so miniature reminds me of a childhood storybook or toy!

This was a nice aerial sunrise above the 9th Street bridge in Richmond, Virginia. This was one of my first shots that I took with my DJI Mavic Pro. For a small portable drone, this thing packs a punch with image quality! And they are great to see the world from above.

The other morning I ran down to the suspension bridge to try to catch the morning sun at Belle Isle. I made it to my spot and set up my tripod to get this panorama just as the sun began to come up. I was happy that all of the clouds were leading lines straight to the city skyline!
